THE Object
-
'Prendre la clé des champs'. This is what Koenraad Dedobbeleer seems to be suggesting with these two linked editions. By concentrating in an almost ultimate way on the paradigm of Maison Commun: moving the everyday object and freeing it from its primary function, Dedobbeleer suggests that we open a door to exclusive space.
This second object is made from a moulded key ring, also reproduced in 925 silver. Unlike steel rings, this one cannot come apart and allow an element to pass through. Here, the object has only the shape of its utility, while remaining recognisable. A shift has taken place from determinism to counterfeiting.
THE ARTIST
-
Koenraad Dedobbeleer creates sculptures, objects and site-specific installations teeming with associations, tongue-in-cheek comments and references to art history. The artist focuses on everyday objects, which he modifies and recontextualises. This approach opens up the perspectives and potential interpretations of his multi-faceted work.
